Visiting Prada’s Garden Factories

Join Cai Xukun as he explores Prada’s industrial headquarters—the Valvigna and Scandicci garden factories in Tuscany, Italy.

Prada’s Valvigna Garden Factory

Designed by the leading Italian architect Guido Canali, Prada’s Valvigna garden factory is located in the beautiful region of Tuscany. As Prada’s industrial headquarters, the site represents the highest expression of the brand’s philosophy, striking a perfect balance between architecture, nature and employee well-being.

Surrounded by sunlight and greenery, employee welfare is at the heart of Valvigna’s design. The site pays an almost religious tribute to nature, while celebrating the value of work, and the honor of artisanship. The architectural inspiration for Valvigna stems from a single belief: that a workplace should not only fulfill its functional and production needs, but that it should also be centered on and designed for the people using it.

Gardens, green spaces and brightly lit interiors relieve stress and offer a tranquil place to relax. They are part of the constant pursuit for balance, between gardens and buildings, and between structural precision and the freedom of natural elements. The factory features hidden courtyards, amply lit walkways, and bright and spacious open workshops.

Creation is not a goal in itself. New inspiration is sparked through reflection and the relentless refinement of completed works. Pay attention to every detail and believe in the workplace as a productive force where creative inspirations are born, nurtured and transformed.

Prada’s Scandicci Factory

This is Prada’s Scandicci factory. Covering an area of 12,000 m², it is the fashion house’s largest production facility for handbags in Italy. The factory is a center of excellence that encompasses the full production cycle, from the cutting of raw materials, to the application of the finishing touches on the handbags. Artisanal skills are preserved and passed on to new generations of artists.

The Scandicci factory is designed with the same architectural philosophy asValvigna, embracing respect for employees and their well-being, while encapsulating an environmentally conscious mindset. The solar power system on the roof provides 25% of the energy supply and recycles wastewater and rainwater to reduce water consumption.

At Prada, innovation and creativity are everything.
